We checked 6 Mid Sussex Christmas tree sellers, from Goddenwick Farm to Kingsley Farm near East Grinstead, for 2026 prices and dates. Updated November 2026.

Mid Sussex has six good places to buy a real Christmas tree in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with prices, opening dates and what each one sells. Most people head for Goddenwick Farm outside Lindfield, where Sussex Christmas Trees has pick-your-own fields, reindeer and a Christmas shop; Fox Hill Christmas Trees on Lunces Common, a family grower since 1993; and Kingsley Farm just north of East Grinstead, where you can cut your own or dig one up with roots. Every entry was checked against the seller’s own website on 8 November 2026.

Five of the six publish this year’s prices, so a 6ft tree can be compared before you set off. Stock goes quickly in the last fortnight, so ring before a special trip. Distances are rough, from the nearest Mid Sussex town.

1. Sussex Christmas Trees, Goddenwick Farm, Lindfield

The biggest Christmas tree operation in the district, on the Ardingly Road about a mile and a half north of Lindfield. Sussex Christmas Trees grows its own here and at a second plantation at Five Ashes, around 120,000 trees between them, and is a member of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association.

At Goddenwick you can take a pre-cut tree from the barn or walk its four pick-your-own fields and cut one yourself; the farm says to bring a handsaw, as its few are usually in use. It grows Nordmann fir, Norway spruce, Fraser fir, Korean fir, lodgepole pine and what it calls “Farmer Toms Famous Sussex Fir”, with cut trees up to 30ft.

Rudolph the reindeer lives behind the tree barn, with donkeys, alpacas and goats, and there is a woodland walk, a Christmas shop selling the farm’s own pine needle gin, mulled wine at weekends, and a Santa’s grotto on set dates with the money going to West Sussex Mind.

The farm says trees in the field are individually labelled and the price list is a guide. It cannot reserve trees before opening day; if you want to tag one, come on the first weekend and collect it later.

It started with Norway spruce, still its own favourite for the scent, then added blue spruce, Nordmann fir and Fraser fir, which it suggests for narrower rooms. It also sells freshly dug potted trees up to 5ft, small container-grown trees, wreaths and table decorations, stands, logs and kindling, and nets your tree and carries it to the car.

4. Balcombe Estate Christmas tree yard

The Balcombe Estate, about five miles north of Haywards Heath, grows its trees in its own West Sussex woods and cuts them just before they go on sale. It sells Norway spruce, Nordmann fir and Serbian spruce, a slim tree with two-tone needles that suits a tight corner, from about 4ft up to 40ft for churches, schools and businesses, with haulage by crane lorry if needed.

Trees are netted and carried to your car, and the yard also sells stands, holly wreaths, logs and kindling. It suggests wearing gloves to choose.

After Christmas

Mid Sussex District Council does not collect trees from the kerb. Last winter it ran 24 drop-off sites across the district for two weeks from New Year, and trees cut to fit can go in a garden waste bin. It has not named this winter’s sites yet; our Christmas bin collections page has last year’s list and will carry the new one. Kingsley Farm collects trees it delivered for £8, Brighton and Hove Christmas Trees collects from £7.50, and Fox Hill points customers to a charity collection for St Peter and St James Hospice.

How we chose

These are the places people in Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, East Grinstead and the villages search for when they want a real tree: the growers with their own plantations inside the district or just over its edge, and two sellers that deliver to Mid Sussex postcodes. Prices and dates are the sellers’ own, as published on 8 November 2026. Run a place that should be here, or spot something that has changed? Email newsdesk@midsussexnews.co.uk. Taken a good photograph of any of these places? Email it to newsdesk@midsussexnews.co.uk and we will add it with your name as the credit.
