This year’s East Grinstead pantomime is Robin Hood at Chequer Mead Theatre, running from Saturday 5 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027. Chequer Mead is the only theatre in Mid Sussex staging a pantomime this Christmas, and tickets are on sale.

The cast
Callum Donnelly plays Robin Hood, Amelia Fadden is Maid Marion, Harry Henderson is Little John, Helen Goldwyn is Fairy Glade and Tizane McEvoy is the Sheriff. The dame role goes to Kevin Gauntlett as “the wonderfully outrageous Little Red Riding Hood”. The theatre promises “comedy, catchy songs, spectacular costumes and plenty of audience participation”. Weekday shows before 18 December fall in term time. Schools in West Sussex break up on Friday 18 December (Downlands in Hassocks on the 17th), so the matinees from Saturday 19 December onwards are the ones most families will be looking at. Our school term dates page has the details.
The relaxed performance
The 2pm show on Saturday 12 December is “a specially adapted performance” with “a calm and inclusive environment for anyone who would benefit from reduced sensory elements”. Chequer Mead also publishes accessibility pages covering tickets and the venue.
Getting there
Chequer Mead is on De La Warr Road, a short walk from the High Street. East Grinstead station is the end of the line from London via Oxted. There is a car park at Chequer Mead, off Church Lane. The district council’s pay and display car parks charge from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sundays and bank holidays, so the 6pm evening shows start after charging ends on most days.
