Remembrance Sunday is 8 November: Burgess Hill's parade leaves at 10.15am, East Grinstead's runs 10.30am to noon, Haywards Heath at Muster Green before 11am.
Remembrance Sunday is Sunday 8 November 2026, and all three Mid Sussex towns hold a parade and service that morning. Armistice Day falls on Wednesday 11 November, with services at 11am in Burgess Hill and East Grinstead.
The quick answer
- Burgess Hill: parade leaves the rear of Cyprus Road car park at 10.15am; roads close from 10am.
- East Grinstead: parade and service 10.30am to 12pm on the High Street and London Road; four town car parks are free 9am to 1pm.
- Haywards Heath: service at the war memorial on Muster Green, starting shortly before 11am, then a parade to the Town Hall.
- Wednesday 11 November: Burgess Hill at 10.45am, East Grinstead at 11am.
Burgess Hill: parade at 10.15am, roads shut from 10am
Burgess Hill Town Council leads the town’s arrangements with the Royal British Legion and has published the most detail of the three towns. (Burgess Hill Town Council, Remembrance Services November 2026)
- 10.15am: the parade leaves from the rear of Cyprus Road car park, with youth groups and local organisations taking part, under a rolling road closure.
- After the parade: a service at the War Memorial Garden, where wreaths are laid.
- Then: a church service at St John’s straight after the gathering at the memorial. The council says all are welcome.
Road closures from 10am: Church Road, Civic Way (east of Lower Church Road), Crescent Road, Crescent Way, Cyprus Road and Mill Road (south of Cyprus Road). The council says the closures are enforced “from 10am promptly”, and they are staffed by town council staff and Burgess Hill Bonfire Society volunteers.
Parking: the back of Cyprus Road car park is used for forming up, and the council advises avoiding it from 9.45am.
If you want to march, contact the council’s community engagement team on 01444 247726 or communityteam@burgesshill.gov.uk by Friday 23 October. To lay a wreath, the council asks you to contact Sarah Voce at pao.burgesshill@talktalk.net or on 01444 246655.
East Grinstead: 10.30am to noon, free parking 9am to 1pm
East Grinstead Town Council’s printed 2026 events listing gives the Remembrance Parade and Service as Sunday 8 November, 10.30am to 12pm, on the High Street and London Road. (East Grinstead Town Council, Town Events 2026)
The town council’s end of September newsletter adds that Mid Sussex District Council has confirmed King Street, Queensway, Vicarage and Chequer Mead car parks will be free from 9am to 1pm that morning. (East Grinstead Town Council newsletter, end of September 2026)
The council has not yet published a route or road closure times for the parade itself. For a sense of how much of the town centre a procession closes, East Grinstead Community Bonfire’s night on 17 October shuts the High Street, London Road and a dozen side streets from 5.45pm; that is a different event, and the Remembrance closures will be its own order.
Haywards Heath: Muster Green, just before 11am
Haywards Heath Town Council’s remembrance page gives the service at the War Memorial, Muster Green, beginning “shortly before 11am, leading into the Two Minutes’ Silence”. Councillors, veterans, community organisations and residents gather together, and the council asks people to arrive in good time. Afterwards the parade marches to Boltro Road, with the salute taken at the Town Hall. (Haywards Heath Town Council, Remembrance)
If you cannot get there, the service is live streamed on the town council’s Facebook page from 10.55am.
One thing to be aware of: the page is headed “Sunday 8th November 2025”. The 8th of November falls on a Sunday in 2026, not 2025, so the date is this year’s and the year in the heading is a slip. No road closure times have been published for the Haywards Heath parade.
Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November
- Burgess Hill, 10.45am: councillors, Royal British Legion members and town council staff march from the Help Point in Church Walk to the War Memorial for a short ceremony and the two minutes’ silence. The Town Mayor lays the People’s Wreath at the base of the memorial. (Burgess Hill Town Council)
- East Grinstead, 11am: a Remembrance Day service with the two minutes’ silence at the High Street war memorial. (East Grinstead Town Council, Town Events 2026)
Haywards Heath Town Council has not published an Armistice Day event.
The villages
Lindfield, Cuckfield, Hassocks and Hurstpierpoint hold their own acts of remembrance, usually at their church or village war memorial, but none of their parish councils had published 2026 times when we checked on 3 October. We will add them as they appear.
East Grinstead also marks remembrance on its bonfire night: East Grinstead Community Bonfire holds a Remembrance service at the war memorial at 6pm on Saturday 17 October, before its torchlit procession. (East Grinstead Community Bonfire, 2026 Event)
Getting there
Pay and display charges in district car parks apply on Sundays from 9am to 5pm, so outside the free East Grinstead car parks above, expect to pay. Charges, car park by car park, are on our parking page, and any closure orders that are advertised will appear on our roadworks and travel page. (Mid Sussex District Council, parking)
Everything else on in the district over the next six weeks is on our What’s On in Mid Sussex page.
